Prior to joining Richner & Richner, Laura Tomassi was the Associate Director of Development for the local non-profit North Star Reach, where she was responsible for corporate and foundation relations, volunteer management, grant writing, planning and execution of the organization’s special events, and major gift work. Having joined the organization during the silent phase of the start up’s inaugural campaign, she helped to take the campaign into the public phase and towards the organization’s grand opening while providing leadership for the implementation of development operations and hiring of staff.
Laura co-founded the Washtenaw County Chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network and served as a Board Member for two years. She is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, acting as the Greater Detroit Chapter’s Program Committee Chair.
Laura has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan, where she was also the Executive Director of the student-run non-profit Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan, as well as an intern with the Development Summer Internship Program. She is a Michigan native and resides in Ann Arbor.
